Year of Gratitude, aka Y.O.G., post #1

I am declaring 2010 to be my Year of Gratitude. I can’t believe how incredibly blessed I am, but like anyone, I can TOTALY get mired in negative stuff. How stoopid is that? Seriously! Here I am living such a wonderful life. I have everything I need and a roof over my head. Then there are all the things we don’t even think about like electricity and running water and indoor plumbing. Beyond that, I have a beautiful home and a great husband and a little boy who hangs the moon.

I’m not saying that I won’t be doing any whinging at all, I’m sure I will. But in an effort to see life more positively, I’m going to post Three Things I’m Thankful For EVERY DAY. I just feel like keeping my eyes peeled for three things to post will brighten my days, and maybe yours too. It might just be a list, or I might turn my list into a post. I’ll try to post accompanying pictures whenever possible, but for the purposes of this project, I’m letting down my standards a bit. Most will probably be iPhone shots. (Since I became a professional dontcha know, I’ve felt like I can’t post any photos unless they’re perfect.)

I challenge you to join me! Post your things in my comments, or better yet, start your own blog!

Without further ado, here are my first Three Things:

1. Exploring bark with Clark in the park. (I don’t plan on making my things rhyme all the time, but this one just does. How very sublime!) ((so proud of myself))

2. My new purse purchased at Target with the remnants of a giftcard. Getting a new purse or wallet is so fun. I love to explore all it’s nooks and crannies and organize my new scene. This one is the perfect size and is also a nice mustard color.

3. I’m sure this won’t be the only time all year I’m thankful for coffee, but today, this particular cup really hit the spot. Clark and I were feeling a little caged up so we went on an outing to the drugstore for deodorant and Q-tips. (I LOVE the drugstore. Clark does not. There was insufficient lingering.) Then we went to the park. After pointing at squirrels and birds and taking an unfortunately terrifying turn on the swings, it was time to go. I still felt a tiny bit of bad mood lingering, but Satelite Coffee fixed me right up.

Does this picture make you salivate? Make you feel a longing for the sweet sweet java somewhere in the middle of your chest? Does me.

Dude! Look at what time this posted! SO COOL! You’re supposed to count your blessings at 11:11, right?

  2. Leah says:

    1. appreciating the fact that although it took 2 hrs hellish driving to do a 7 min driving journey in snow and ice cursing the council for not gritting the roads that i was actually more fortunate than the neighbour’s daughter who had the same car journey the opposite direction in full labour, with waters breaking and a 6 year old in the back saying he was hungry before giving birth to a 101b 11oz baby.

    2. cheeky 2 year old smiles announcing its lippy and no-ey (slippy and snowy)

    3. the wonders of a multi cultural society as I realise that being English (and even though a bit of a foody) I have absolutely no idea how to create a pattern like that in the top of my coffee – new years resolution perhaps

  3. Camille says:

What a great idea! I’m definitely doing this on my own blog! :)

  4. Lucy in UK says:

This is a lovely idea. One of my new year’s resolutions is to be more positive. Today I feel especially grateful for my little boy – he went into school upset because he’d just had a blood test done (I fretted all day that he would feel betrayed by me for letting him have the blood test done), but came out this afternoon with a lovely drawing for me, covered in kisses! I am so lucky!

  5. Jenny says:

Jenny: Astute observation! You’re so pretty!

Leah: Love your list! Liverpool’s having some Weather, I gather?

    Camille: SWEET!

    Lucy: Awwww! That’s the best!
