Hello my sweets! You ARE still here! That’s just wonderful. I am dismayed to learn that so many of you were checking here every day, and every day I was letting you down! I do apologize. Don’t you guys use the Google Reader? You totally should! You subscribe to all your blogs and when there is a new post, it’s right there in the reader for you. It’s excellent for blogs like mine that might go ages without a new post. Just sayin.
Another thing I want to clear up is that none of you reading are the “wrong moms” I referred to in my last post. I guess it just seems like we are all more likely to talk about the struggles than the joys, you know? I’m trying to be better about this. I want other people to have babies! Before we had a baby, most people with children said things like, “You should wait! You have plenty of time.” Maybe this isn’t what they meant, but I took that to mean something like, “Your life is over once you have a kid! It’s terrible raising kids but it’s something we all must do.” But I feel like this is the best thing I’ve ever done. I encourage anyone childless but considering it to get busy.
We just got back from a surprisingly not-awful trip to Ikea. We didn’t get lost, first of all, which for some reason we always do. We either take the wrong exit or get back on one of the two different highways the wrong way, or something else equally dumb. Then we found a parking spot fairly quickly, always a bonus. It was actually much less crowded in there than the parking lot foretold, another bonus. Clark was in a great mood and totally in to looking around at all the prettiness. Right when we were all getting a little grumpy we had mashed potatoes and meatballs, which Clark enjoyed as well. We found everything we went in there for, and after a gift card spent less than $100, which is a huge feat. Mainly we were there to buy a ton of gallery-type frames. We are going to make our new house look like a photographer lives here. SB didn’t even buy any strange fish in a tube or anything else smelly while we were there. A good day, indeed.
Well, friends, aren’t you so glad I’m back? This post is RIVETING. Please entertain me in the comments with your weekend plans, should you feel so inclined. This is the only weekend this month that isn’t crazy busy for us. I think we’re just going to get a Santa picture and that’s it. I hope Clark isn’t traumatized. He really likes beards and glasses, so here’s hoping.
Bonus shot of Clark from Halloween, just cuz. He is a monkey, obviously.

Would this be a good time to tell you that I’m going to have a baby?
Because that would be a lie. I do, however, love your baby, and think you’re a kick-ass mom.
And photographer. XO
gurrrl..i’ve missed you…your post also made me realize that I miss the real IKEA meatballs. Saudi IKEA makes their very own without the PIG. Evidentally you if you get caught smuggling pork into the country you get a big FAT stamp in your passport that says PORK SMUGGLER. It is my goal to get one of those right before my passport expires! Ha!
I subscribe to your lovely blog so it pops up in my email when you update.
You are a kick ass photographer. The kids school pics look fantastic. I hope the retakes worked out well. The dd said one of her friends in class had to have his retaken because he put on some grimy old sweatshirt over his nice clothes. His mom was furious at him and made him do the retake so he had to suffer through 2 days of wearing nice clothes to school because of his antics. Dd thought it hiliarious.
Yay, welcome back!
Love the pic of Clark. What a cutie.
Just to reiterate what everyone else has said – you are an awesome Mom and a kick-ass photographer. I love the pictures from our cider press, they turned out beautifully!
HEY! So glad you’re back. I must admit I’m one of the obnoxious daily clickers that checks your blog because I don’t like Google Reader – it’s too sterile or something. When I see the green and side content, etc., I just feel at home. Ahhhh…
Damn I wish we were coming to Tacoma sometime soon because I feel like we could talk for hours. Hours. I’m so proud of you for pursuing photography even when it feels like everyone is a photographer out there. Not that I’m wanting to go that direction, but I photographed my sister’s wedding, which went okay, but now I just want to know more and more and more and there’s just so much out there to know. I need a workshop or two. I know, Mae Ra Koh. Say no more. Also, two other friends of my sister saw the photography and now want me to photograph their wedding and pay me. While I’m flattered, I’m like, um what? It’s something I’d like to do here and there, but doing my own sister’s wedding when she had very low expectations was stressful enough. Basically, what I’m saying is – How do you do it! And the mom thing too! You are a hero of mine Ginger Jenny. I love ya!
I love Ikea. I go there for fun. I’m so glad to hear the whole family made it through successfully and happily!
Sometimes I even go through more than once. For me, the key is to go on a weekday evening!
Well, I’m not lying like Rona when I say that I’m going to have a baby!
Rona: Don’t tease me. I am looking forward to a possible little Jenny someday.
hliv: OMG. PLEASE become a pork smuggler. That is pretty fun to say. Pork smuggler.
Susan: Thanks so much for your positive feedback! I need it, believe me.
Camille: I LOOOOVE the cider press pictures, too. Did I tell you? I’m now on the lookout for a cider press. Your family inspired me. I want a cider press tradition, too!
Jill: Do IT! If you decide to, let me know and we can talk pricing. Shooting a wedding is a LOT of work, and you need to be paid accordingly. The average for wedding photography nationally is $3,500. You don’t need to charge THAT much, but you should know, and so should your brides, what other people are charging.
MG: Let me know when you are going to Ikea again. I need more frames!
Jen: SHUT UP! Hooray! Hooray! Hooray! I’m so happy for you guys. Damn. That’s going to be one stinking cute kid. When are you due?
love the monkey pict. so excited to hear about the school gig. sounds like it has been keeping you busy. your boy is gorgeous…
I’m due June 9th. I’m hoping we’ll have a boy. A sweet little boy like his poppa.
mash? its swedish meatballs, chips, gravy and lingonberry sauce in Liverpool IKEA and a kids ice cream from the wow factor special machine for 49p.
