My next career
September 11, 2008 | Bits and Bobs

I think I would really enjoy being a walking letter carrier. Or mailperson, whatever you are supposed to call them. Not the kind that drives, the kind that gets to spend all day outside in the fresh air, getting paid to exercise. And sort. I believe this job would perfectly combine my love of walking, and also of sorting.
What would you like to be in another life?

Um, what if you totally stole my answer? (Even though I don’t have the photoshopping to prove it…)

A bed and breakfast innkeeper. No question. Hopefully it will be in this life, and not in another one!

I used to have mailman pants back in college and would wear them. I wanted to be a mail carrier too.
But really, if I had to pick, I’d be a jazz singer.

A shoe designer.

I’m totally jealous of people who work in a downtown office, maybe a view (not a cubicle) and LUNCHES. I always dreamt that I’d be this exec and I’d go out to restaurants for lunch each day. While the staff room at school can be fun, it’s nowhere near being in a downtown and eating out. *Hrmph*

I’ve drooled over the prospect as well … though it likely seems more wonderful than it is … I definitely wouldn’t envy the dog thing.

Kelly T: I totally understand … and I appreciate every day in my downtown office. I do have a cubicle, but it’s not a nook or a cranny … and I get a window and get to watch the passersny. An do lunch. LOTS of lunch. Sometimes I have to pace myself. After years of working small towns, nights and from home … I ADORE lunches out.

Jamie: I believe you!
Camille: I have thought that would also be a nice life. Maybe when I’m old? And can it be on some water somewhere? And can all the people who come to stay be really nice? No assholes allowed at my B&B.
Sizzle: I didn’t know you sing!
dahli: Totally.
Kelly: Ahh… lunch out. That is a nice dream.
chickadee: I love dogs! I would make it my goal to make them all my friends. I would carry dog treats and give them all a good scratch every day. And yay for your window and lunches out!

Jenny – my “other life” career was inspired by you: midwife. Maybe someday….
