Week 23 and 24 Update

August 29, 2008 | Mom In The Making

We were in Belize for week 23 and now it’s week 24, so this is a combo post. Week 23 was great, obviously. I think it was a really good time in the pregnancy to have a week’s vacation. The wee babe is moving a LOT, and it was nice to spend a week lying around, just getting to notice it. I loved lying in the sun, reading my vampire stories and seeing my belly jump around out of the corner of my eye.

And by the way, the tropics totally agree with me. It was REALLY hot here the weekend before we left, and my ankles and feet were swollen beyond recognition. But in Belize, nothing. I enjoyed admiring my delicate ankles all week. I found a way to stay positive about my sausage feet, though. I just kept repeating, “Better my feet, than my face.” Worked great!

We had our 24 week apointment on Wednesday and all is well. My weight, blood pressure, blood and urine were all deemed excellent. There is a funny sense of accomplishment in that. It’s like, yep! Thanks! I rule! My pee is awesome!

For the most part, I felt like a goddess in Belize. It’s weird. My least favorite part of my body has always been my stomach. Now that it’s all out of my control. I feel like a total hotty. I’m enjoying this and savoring it as much as possible, because I’m sure this is the last time I’ll ever feel this way. I’m not trying to be all, “My life is over and I’ll never look good again,” I just know that nothing will ever be the same, and that’s ok. In the mean time, this pregnant lady is rocking the bikini.

  1. You look so stinking cute! I totally wish I would have had the nads to rock the bikini when I was pregnant, as I have always been super self-concious of my tummy as well. I am glad that you guys had such a fun time. The 2nd trimester is definitely the time to relax and soak it all up!

And the vampire stories….LOVE THEM! I just finished Eclipse Wednesday, and am going to buy Breaking Dawn today. I wish I would have planned my weekend better so I would have the whole weekend to be alone with Edward and Bella. But no…Brooke’s gotta have a social life! lol

    Take care!

  2. You are DEFINITELY rockin that bikini! Bravo to you!

  3. You’re rockin’ TWO bikinis!!!!!

  4. Apparently, your new, bigger knockers are serving a dual roll as giant cojones! Que bonita, mamacita!

  5. Oh Jenny. You look wonderful!

  6. You look hot! It’s the end of Winter in Oz and those pics get me excited that Summer is coming.

I can relate to the belly thing, it’s all firm and taut and gorgeous. The best my tummy has ever been was with child.

  7. You look amazing!

(I am also reading the vampire stories. I told my husband and he was incredulous.)

  8. You totally rock the pregnant bikini look, good for you!

  9. Brooke: LEt me know what you think of Breaking Dawn. I liked it well enough, but some people have hated it.

    Rachel: Hi there! Thanks! :)

chickadee: Yes, one was bought for my expanded girth, and the other was a pre-prego one I am barely pulling off, but it makes for better tan lines.

jonniker: Thanks! I’m so glad I got a bit of pregnant summer. As the belly gets more magnificent, it will be covered in more and more clothing.

Kyls: Word! My belly is usually pretty pooch-y. This firmness is awesome!

Sarah: All the cool kids are doing it. We have to know what the kids are into these days, yes? Besides, vampires are hot.

    Camille: Thanks! :)

  10. I’m halfway through Breaking Dawn, and am a little irritated. It seems so far fetched. I mean, granted, it is a book about vampires and werewolves, but still…I’ll let you know what I think when I’ve finished the book!

  11. I finished Breaking Dawn this weekend, and I think that it redeemed itself by the end of the book. I really hope that all of the books get made into movies, not just Twilight.
