Kelly T: Thanks for having my back on the not finding out issue! We are getting a lot of abuse. :)

Beth: Thanks for adding more ammo to my argument! I had thought about the practical gift factor, but not about the possible future sibling implications. Nice.

Beth C: We don't really have an in utero nickname! I know this is weird. I think maybe I think it's kind of funny to keep calling it IT. I guess we usually call it 'baby' or the week's fruit.

Rona: Thanks! I was wearing my current favorite shirt at your birthday. I'm sure you will see it many more times.

Brooke: Hi! If I was at all wavering about finding out, your story just took away all doubt. I WANT to be surprised!

moo: Yeah, it seems like I have earned another surprise by this time, but I think I can keep waiting. :)

Jill: Yes. I want a boy. I think it sort of looks like a boy. Of course, blah blah blah, a girl would be fine... ;)

Kate: I know, right? I know some say they are not the best, but I really appreciated this bit of technology. We saw it swallowing!

Ah, not to the banana stage yet. Our baby is in the apple/navel orange stage right now. The food comparisons crack me up.

Your baby is so cute. Love the high-kick going on. Ultrasounds are freakin' amazing.

Wahhhh! I LOVE the picture. It certainly does feel like it's starting to be real - I still couldn't picture you pregnant. In fact, when I saw all those biking pictures, I was like, Pssshhhah, she's not really pregnant. No pregnant woman would go biking for a whole weekend! Hahaha! You're such a badass prego mamma. I'm impressed. I also agree with Beth that you are Cr-azy for waiting to find out the sex. I just simply wouldn't be able to contain my curiosity. Are you hoping for any particular sex? (and don't say, "no" cuz we'll all know you're lying)

Congrats! You have a lot more willpower than me ... I couldn't WAIT to find out if it would be a boy or a girl and I'll do it again for this one.

You guys have so much willpower. We found out with my little one, which I loved at the time. Until I delivered him and the doctor held him up, and she smiled excitedly at me and cried, "It's a BOY!" Which I obviously knew. That one sentence can have so much joy attached to it, but it had already been spoiled for me 22 weeks before that. Stick to your guns!

He/She is absolutely adorable. Glad to hear he/she has a clean bill of health.

And like Kelly T said...that one pile in the corner is just the beginning. You may as well fall in love with it, and whisper sweet nothings to it because it will multiply and be around for oh...the next 18 years or so!

S/he's darling! I'm very excited to read stories and sing silly songs and teach wee one things that mom and dad might rather s/he not learn quite so soon. Ah, the privileges of the childless "auntie!" I'm glad you're feeling better - you look stunning.

Also, isn't it funny how the size is always compared to a food? It's a pea! Now it's a lima bean! Now it's a lime! Now it's a plum! Now it's a banana! It sounds like you're growing a fruit salad in there!

Does your little one have an in utero nickname? I feel so impersonal referring to it as it, but, well... anyway, it looks like the baby's touching it's toes! It took Liam months outside the womb before he could get his toes in his mouth--it looks like your little one has a head start there. I still think you're crazy for not finding out, especially knowing how organized you are, miss "lay-out-my-outfits-for-the-week-in-advance," but I applaud you for knowing what you want and not giving in to peer pressure from the likes of me!

Awwwwwww. She/He/It has your...um...head shape?

Have I told you that I feel very strongly about not finding out the gender of your first baby from a purely fiscal standpoint? I probably have, because again, I feel so strongly.

I mean, say you have a girl for your first kid and tell everyone. Everyone buys you pink frilly things because that's what people do. Nevermind that she will never wear those things because they are itchy.

So what happens when you have baby two, and it's a boy? No one throws you a shower for the second baby, so you have to buy all new clothes for the first year unless you want to scandalize stray grandmothers by dressing your darling boy in clothes that declare he's daddy's little princess?

If you don't tell, people tend to buy you practical neutral things that you can use for future siblings and not go broke.

Seriously. I just went to a shower for a new mother who's having a girl, and every single present was pink. Every. single. one. (Except mine, of course, because I know the mom is partial to orange.)
