Huzzah!

16-avocado

We are pregnant! Sixteen weeks already, and the Wee One is the size of an avocado. I have no good excuse for waiting so long to blog about this. Well, first of all, we didn’t tell anyone for the the first 12 weeks, for which we deserve bright shiny medals of honor. That shit was hard. (“How are you? What’s new?” “Oh fine, fine. Nothing, really, just working a lot.”) Then, after puking for 2 months straight, I started feeling better and it didn’t seem real anymore, and I felt like talking about it was counting chickens or something, you know? I’m a weirdo.

So, I didn’t post about it, and the few IRL people who knew and read my blog kept asking me when I was going to. I just didn’t know what I was going to say! I wanted it to be joyful, but this whole experience is SO FUCKING WEIRD. I don’t want to be a whiner, but DUDE, some fucked up shit’s been going down that I must talk about, even though I’ll probably be interpretted as whining by someone. Oh well. You’ll indulge me a little, won’t you?

Anyway, all in all, this is fabulous news. The details include: yes, we were trying, due late December, no we won’t find out the sex, and if all goes well we will birth here.

Not sure if this will work, but here is its heartbeat, which my sweet dorky husband recorded with his iPhone:

The Wee One

    YAY! *tee hee hee*

That’s fabulous news! Congrats and many blessing to you and The Husband …

  6. Edwad says:

Belated congrats. FYI information, your hubby spilled the beans on Teh Interwebs a while ago, either on twitter or facebook by indicating he was going to be a daddy. Scandal?

  7. shelikestotravel says:

Wow! I’m delurking again to say congratulations! This is exciting news!

  8. Adrienne says:

Oh, yay! Now all those faux maternity shirts are no longer faux (for you at least). Congrats!

  9. Woooo hooooo! Lots of upcoming shopping time for you. My main advice: SPREAD. IT. OUT! What fits one month might not fit the next. So don’t think you’re going to do it all in one spree. Find a couple fab fitting bottoms halfs, and some smashing shirts, and expect to be shopping at least for an item or two once a month after you “pop out” of your pants.

OK. I’m done now. And jealous that you have SO MANY MORE OPTIONS than I had 8 years ago. :P

YIPPPPPEEE! Brian and I are so incredibly thrilled for you guys. I’m even more excited that I’ll be able to see you all prego in October. Wish I could do that maternity shopping with you. :( Miss you lots! Congrats again!

  11. That is fantastic news! Congrats.

  12. Camille says:

YEAH!! Congratulations! :) It’s your blog, say what you want! OMG, I’m so excited for you!

  13. Jenny says:

Just lovely. I loved being pregnant, and totally take advantage of this time. Really pamper yourself, get some massages and pedicures. Take naps. Walk the dog a lot (my ultimate weight maintainance tip). I second TCD with the shopping. The Birthing Inn is fantastic, lots of my girls at work have delivered there.

    Much love!

  14. Brooke says:

Congratulations! I found pregnancy really fun after I got out of the puking phase! Enjoy it!

  15. Jenny says:

Thanks so much, everyone for your kind congrats. They really mean a lot to me! :)

Dar, Camille: I shall do a bit of whining. ;)

Edward: No Scandal. Like I said, I just didn’t know what I was going to say.

Adrienne: I KNOW! I actually have a couple of them, and now, I need not worry that they make me look pregnant, because I am!

chickadee: Note taken. I’ve ordered a few things online, and most of them are too big. I just hate shopping in stores. I’m doing ok, though. People have been really generous with hand me downs.

Jenny: Thanks for the tips! I have been walking Freya a lot. And yes, TBI is awesome! I’ve been to a couple of births there.

Brooke: I am looking forward to that!

  16. When ordering online, make sure to measure yourself first. Preggo sizes are often a bit more “generous” … so things are often huge if you just order your same size, at least for the first leg of pregnancy.

  17. JR says:

Congratulations!!!!! I can’t believe I got so far behind on my blog reading that I am just now reading this! I feel so lost and excited at the same time! I’m so happy for you I can’t stop using exclamation points!

  18. Starkers says:

    Congrats to you both!

    Kyls

  19. Jess says:

Jenny, what the heck? I am *also* pregnant, and *also* due in late December, and still we have never met? What’s going on? ^_^ Big huge congratulations to you guys!

  20. Jess says:

Oh, also, nice work keeping up with the blog while big life changes are afoot. Notice the View from the Hilltop is all sad nowadays. I’m so lame!

  21. Jenny says:

Jess: GET OUT! We better meet soon before neither of us has a life anymore. ;)

And dudee, you blog IS stale. I check in every couple of weeks or so, and I am sad there is no new post!

  22. Jenny says:

    dudee? Sorry about that.

  23. Jess says:

Hee hee, dudee. I know someone who calls their significant other that as a term of endearment. Yeah, meet soon we should! At a bar! We can order sparkling water!
