A brief break in Hong Kong posts
February 25, 2008 | City of Destiny
There are more tales of adventure and intrigue in Hong Kong to come, but I must pause for a couple of T-town notes and observations.
Firstly, has anyone else noticed the scary zombie cheese girl displayed above the fancy deli stuff at Metropolitan Market? Seriously. Look up at your own risk.
…………
Next, a small funny. The following conversation took place at my house during the Oscars last night. SB had just gotten up to get beverages as they announced the winner of the honorary tribute Oscar.
SB (from the kitchen, over the loud TV): Did they give him a standing O?
Me: What?
SB: DID THEY GIVE HIM A STANDING O??
ME:….Sparkling Water?
SB: (laughs really hard)
ME: Sorry. I just didn’t want to say “what” again.
…………
How stinking cute is this? Well done, Erik and Mary. I loved the envelope and the cool address label, and this is just awesome, with the sweet colors and printing? Nice.

I’m pleased to have this adorning my fridge for the next nine months.
…………

Lastly, are you aware, Tacoma residents, that there’s a big fat festival of plays going on right now? The Northwest Playwrights Alliance is putting on a bunch of shows through the weekend. SB is directing one, and roped me in as a last resort. We had our first performance last night and people seemed entertained.
We have another performance this Thursday at 7:30pm if you’re interested. Below, SB prepares one of our props, just before the performance.

Intrigued? Come on out on Thursday!

Also, I love your fridge. My hubby stripped ours of all its character. D) What show is AJ directing? On Thursday, really? Does it conflict with LOST? I really want to come!!! E) Smooches!

Oh Bother,
I can’t make the trek on Thursday. You’ll have to re-enact it for me sometime soon.

So, I don’t really know who you are, but you posted on my friend Kate’s site and I wanted to check out who you are. And I saw your save the date collage and saw you are getting married on my birthday. Cool. I hope it will be a beautifully sunny day. I got married on Feb 10th and the day before we got almost 8 in of snow. We thought nobody would be able to come. But on the 10th, it was in the 40’s and so sunny. The stained glass had never been so spectacular.
Anyway, enjoy your day.

Wish I could come to the play fest; my mind is whirring with the possible uses of a naked Barbie and faux fur…and all I get is dirty, dirty, dirty. Tell A I’m wishing him happy thoughts from afar.
The “save the date” thang is one of the cutest I’ve ever seen. But I have to admit that it took me a minute to figure out that you were showing it from your fridge; I thought, “wow, they must really love Jenny to picture her so prominently in their wedding announcement.” Yes, I am a wee bit dumb.

Noreen: A) It’s some kind of arty chalk drawing, but she looks undead. B)I enjoyed the Oscars as well. Would love to hear YOUR thoughts. C)I like the look of a clean fridge, but ours happens to be dented and old, so the pictures are covering that up. D) It’s called ‘Oh Cabbie’ and yes, it most likely conflicts with LOST. But Seriously, it’s a new work. It’s not that great. Shhhh… E) Right back atcha.
JR: You and your zombie fixation! I’ll see what I can do.
Rona: do you see half your face up there on my fridge?
Don’t worry you are not missing much.
Aubrey: HI there! Welcome! That’s actually not my save the date, but thanks for commenting!
Lizzie: HA! That’s funny. I guess it;s not clear, is it? And get your mind out of the gutter! It’s a family show.

I feel like such an idiot…I actually thought, wow, that’s a really interesting save the date…with a belly dancer. I didn’t put it all together until I read Elazaebeth’s comment. So glad I’m not the only one…. But now that I look at it again, that is a really neat Save the Date.

Okay, just joining the conversation now. Realize that you clearly haven’t said your name was Mary (or Erik) any where. And, I too, thought the whole thing was a wedding announcement. Neat idea anyway.
