Saturday morning was the Barn Sale out on Fox Island. SB and I got up early, got coffee, and began the lovely drive over the Narrows Bridge out to the Peninsula. The Barn Sale is usually held the first Saturday of every month. Some friends of ours grew up out there, and once every couple of months, we all journey out to Fox Isand for the sale and usually lunch afterwards at The Tides Tavern in Gig Harbor.
Here is my favorite shot of the many I took of various junk:

On our way to the Tides it started snowing! We were all overcome with the Holiday Spirit and greatly enjoyed our lunch and libations while watching the snow fall over the water. (This was of course your typical, PNW, piddly-ass, non-sticking snow. It was fun to watch, though.)

See friend Mari, overcome with the Holiday Spirit:

When I got home, I dutifully photographed my scores for you. Check out these beautiful, embroidered pillowcases I found. Only $3!

This set of books is called, “The Golden Treasury of Knowledge.” I like them because they look cool on the shelf and have really pretty, old-timey, watercolor-looking pictures inside. I can’t wait to use them in my art projects. They were .25 each, $2 for the whole set.

Huge, old, stain-free, holiday table cloth, $2. Pretty doilies in funky colors, not sure what I’ll do with them, but they were only .50 each and I was seduced by their lovely symmetry.

Behold! SB’s big score:

I also got this really awesome old mirror for ten bucks that’s going to totally kick ass once I spray-paint it. I’ll show it to you then.

On an unrelated note, Camille asks in the last post’s comments how the Weather we had yesterday effected my commute. Well. It took me three hours and ten minutes to get to work yesterday. I left at 6:30am and I got there at 9:40. That’ll teach me to whine.
Oh, I am so jealous. So! jealous!
Also, this thing used to fill in my info for me, but now it does not. Oh, dear, what did I do to my computer when I was screwing around in the preferences folder?
FUN! Now I have to go sometime. My Grandma has those books and I used to pour over them as a dorky child. I loved them!!! I think they were a slightly older version, but they look the same inside.
my next trip to the PNW will have to coordinate with Barn Sale. Congratulations on your finds, they were good ones.
xo
What is this magical place that I have never heard of? With wonderful surpirses and fabulous deals? Good finds, I love the embroidered pillow cases and the Gremlin lunch box.
So sorry about your commute.
I wish for you that Bikram develops an in-car yoga program!
WOW! Those books are fantastic! My parents had them when I was little and I used to look at them for hours. Who knew they were so popular?
I love the pillowcases and the doilies! So awesome!
Oh, I forgot, I tagged you.
Sigh! I actually had to go buy a sweater yesterday! I must be turning into a true Hong Konger as we will have a high of 68 today and I am in desperate need of a warm enough sweater. The snow is so pretty. Between you and Dahli, I am super missing the snow right now. It reminds me of what cold really is.
p.s. You look hot in your hat!
Swistle: Hi! I don’t know what’s up with my fields. I certainly want commenting to be hassle-free for all. I’ll check in to it. As for the Barn Sale, you the Queen of Bargain Hunting would L.O.V.E. it.
serror: Really? That’s crazy! Does that make me a bad person for my plan to cut them up?
dahli: You would love the Barn Sale, too, because there’s so much good photography fodder there.
Camille: It’s kind of a well kept secret. I probably should tell the internets. All my scores will be gone next time! I have made it yoga THREE TIMES this week! I rule!
Sheila: Hi there! Again, I apologize for my planned art-project-ing of your childhood memories.
JayAre: Thanks! I am hoping that there are more doilies left at the next one. I’m wishing I had bought a couple more. Thanks for the tagging!
Heather: Oh my god. 68? You have truly changed into a tropical being if you think that’s cold. That’s like one of our best days in the SUMMER.
Dude! The gremlins box is off the hook and the fact that you can just GO to a sale like this is a dream for us over seas. What a Fucking Awesome time you had. Bonus on the emboidery! Cheers from the HK.
