Last weekend, I set out to collect the many oozing, rotting pumpkins scattered about the grounds from the halloween party, yardwaste bag and gloves in hand. Then I noticed, hey! Some of this oozing rot is pretty cool looking! So, I ran inside, got my camera, and took more pictures than I care to admit of our little science experiment. I give you…
Pretty Fungus:

You’re welcome!
That is truly impressive. Hmm … so, Halloween decor gets scarier as it goes, what does that mean about other holidays???
Do Christmas/Hanukkah gifts get better if left under the tree longer?
Valentine’s Day decor left out would get pornographic?
I digress.
this reminds me of how my pumpkin was moldy when i lifted the lid and first looked inside. what’s up with that?
Cool! (I just hadn’t left a comment in a long time, and thought I was due!)
Hi!
I think I’m gonna barf…this is why I make my husband deal with old pumpkins. And this year we threw them away on the first trash day after Halloween. Although the mold growing out of the face is pretty neat looking, I have to admit.
so pretty!
I really enjoy looking at fungus & mold too..it’s really interesting to me. I could stare for hours, except sometimes it smells.
xo
Disgustingly awesome!
Mold is a constant battle here because of the humidity, but we haven’t yet discovered anything quite this lovely! hliv
it is no wonder that you and my favorite niece are such good friends. You are both very unique and creative in your very own funny ways. great photos.
chickadee: Ha! Good one.
tia: I know! Why do some pumpkins mold in like 2 days and some last for weeks? We tried some Martha trick of spraying bleach water inside of them, but it didn’t work.
beth c: Usually I am much more on top of clearing away the decorations of holidays past. I did leave the uncarved ones out though, as they are fall-y.
dahli: I love you.
Camille: I know, right?
Haether: Really? I don’t think of Hong Kong being moldy and damp like England was but I guess it makes sense.
aunt debbie: HI! Hey everyone! It’s Jesse’s kickass Aunt Debbie! She rules.
Ooops! I forgot Kristy! Hi there! This post of fungus has attracted both special aunts and internet celebrities. Sweet!
Those are some funky punkys. I love the first one, it’s so organic and mysterious.
Impressive, isn’t it?
