And summer’s lease hath all too short a date*

Inspired by a trip to the The Old Cannery, SB and I found ourselves on a walk in Sumner of all places.

It was a lovely fall day, and the leaves were so bright! Have you noticed they seem to be brighter this year? I thought I’d learned somewhere that hot summers make bright fall foliage. As this summer sucked donkey balls, we know that can’t be the case, but I could swear the saturation seems to be upped a notch or two this year.

We stopped at this place and had some QUALITY malts. SB had vanilla and I had chocolate.

There has been a request for more pictures of Freya. (Have I mentioned I take requests?) She found Sumner to be a nice place for a stroll, and appreciated the public drinking fountain we used to fill her water dish.

She is quite color coordinated with the fall wouldn’t you say?

* Isn’t that always the case? Also, something fun for the English nerds and Theater dorks. Name that Shakespeare!

Um, since I’m both an English “nerd” and a Theater “dork”, apparently, I’ll proudly cite Sonnet XVIII.

I agree, the colors have had more umph this fall. It’s been quite delightful.

And Jenny, thou art more lovely and more temperate.

Thanks for the Freya pic! She looks so happy!

I love Freya! She looks so cute!

  4. Noreen says:

I agree with you and Rona. The colors this fall are spectacular. I noticed it in a tree at my parents’ house. After decades of seeing that tree it is entirely different and ridiculously lovely this fall.

And it is very fashionable to coordinate your accessories to the season. Freya is the perfect compliment. I am so glad you all found each other. This post makes me want to make a visit to Sumner. Fun!

Ok, first off, your dog is so so cute and she fits right in with the fall colors. Even Matt couldn’t resist the temptation to say “Awwwwww!” when I showed him the picture.
(And on a side note, we have some friends who also have a dog named Freya. Must be a good doggie name.)

Those fall leaves are tempting me to fly up to Seattle a little earlier, but I shall resist! It’s 80 degrees today. :)

No clue where that quote came from…would have guessed a random play!

    Adorable dog! Hi Freya!

  7. Jenny says:

Rona: Hi friend! I love that little quote. Thanks for playing along!

dahli: Doesn’t she? I’ve never had a dog that you could tell was smiling before.

Tacoma Friend: Thanks! Let’s take her for a walk again soon!

Noreen: You should! The Cannery is great way to spend an afternoon. Furniture and Fudge!

Camille: You and your 80 degrees can suck it! So. Jealous.

    leila: hi there! Thanks! :)

  8. Dar says:

Aw, I would’ve guessed Midsummer Night’s Dream, just b/c of the word summer in it.

our leaves in the northeast weren’t brighter, but they did stay on later this yr b/c Oct was warmer than usual. They’re mostly all off now, tho, except the willow trees and oaks.

  9. Jenny says:

These particular leaf pictures are actually quite dark but I wanted to make the point about the leaves, anyway.

Now they’re all gone. The house across the street from us is abandonned and it’s a much better view for us when all the leaves are on the trees.
