Craig Ferguson at the Pantages

Saturday night, SB and I attended the Craig Ferguson show at the Pantages Theater. I’m ashamed to admit it, but I see a lot more shows in Seattle than I do in Tacoma. I don’t even think I’d ever seen anything there before Saturday night. It’s really beautiful! I was impressed.

The Tacoma crowd was an excellent, high energy audience. We showed well! Except for some obnoxious woman who kept yelling during his pauses. That is SO annoying! It totally fucks up the commedian flow, that forward momentum of funny. (The Pantages should really have a plan in place for removing people if they’re going to do comedy shows. It’s hard to expect the volunteer grandma ushers to do anything about it.)

Anyway, I almost never see his show because it’s on at 3am or something, but not too long ago I saw this youtube clip about how he will not make fun of Britney Spears and I became an instant fan.

Craig Ferguson is a funny guy and an energetic performer. He told lots of entertaining stories about his original experiences in America in his lovely Scottish accent, and made jokes about how he has the immigrant’s typical, flag-waving, pride in America.

In his encore bit, he made some funny remarks about the Hollywood writer’s strike. He said something, people laughed, then he goes, “Was that funny? No one wrote it down for me.”

Funniest thing he said all night:

“Did you know that Fife is named after a place in Scotland that is also shitty?”

Were you the woman taking photos from the 1st balcony, right side?
    :)

We were sitting above there, in the 2nd balcony. A VERY obnoxious lady was up above us, either nutso or drunk, who would not shut up. Eventually, a whole section hissed SHHHHHHH and she finally quieted down.

This is the 3rd Broadway Center event I’ve attended in the past month (also 4 Slices of Rye at Theater on the Square, and C.S. Monk and Rachel Price at Rialto). All 3 events were 1st class, top notch, New York City rated entertainment, without the drive north up I-5 or dealing with Seattle parking or traffic. Spread the word, Broadway Center’s new schedule ROCKS.

  2. Anne says:

oops, typo – it was 4 Slices of WRY!!

    Hi Anne!

I was sitting in that area, so maybe you saw me, but I wasn’t using a flash, so if you saw flashing, that wasn’t me! ;)

I too am very impressed with the new Broadway Center. We still need some locally produced theater around here, though. The plays they do don’t count!

  4. So jealous. We were planning on getting tickets to Craig this month and Garrison in January, but decided that this fall’s household schedule is pretty booked … so I was happy to see the shows nearly booked when I went to peek at ticket availability, so I didn’t feel too guilty about waiting a little longer to drink in Broadway’s increasingly fantastic schedule. I think we decided to take the whole family for one of the kid-friendly shows (possibly the Nutcracker) this year instead … thanks to you guys and others, we’re actually getting plenty of date nights, so a family show would be fun! Thanks. :)

chickadee: Hey! Shouldn’t you be writing a novel? ;) That was at least 75 words.

Jenny, I got the Ferguson video to load this time. It was very moving and sweet. So honest. Awwww.

And, he’s hugged Eddie. Just like you.

    Here’s a vid in exchange

  7. Jenny says:

Dar: Isn’t that a nice clip? So sincere and honest.

I liked these photos of Eddie. I kept waiting fot the interview to start, though!

  8. Jenny: :P

That’s two, no, four, ack, six … hmmm … perhaps I should get the kids to bed and get back to work. I caught up this weekend, but today’s just another day to fall behind …

Any plot line requests? Speak up! Inspire me oh brilliant one … perhaps I need to write about Jenny the driver of the fabulous drool-inducing haircut … ;)

Uh, oh, might be closing in on those 75 words again … I’m much better writing novels in comment fields … he he. Maybe that’s a project, the comment novel. And now I think I’ve hit my randomness limit for the day. Back to work …

  9. Jenny says:

You, my dear, would win the Pulitzer for your comment novels.
