I bring you a Friday potpourrie (dude. I had to look that up just now. I was aware of the T, but sheesh) of little things I’ve been meaning to tell you. At the end, I’m going to talk about LOST, so fair warning to you DVD watchers, skip the last bit, okay?
Thing the first:
Remember when we went to New York? And we had that fabulous New Year’s Eve? That night, I met a friend of the friends we were staying with, we’ll call her Nikita.

(um… she’s wee. Do I not look like a different species?)
At the time, Nikita had just started learning the bass guitar and was holding auditions for her new idea, an all-girl Mötley Crüe tribute band, inspired in part by her Guitar Hero badassery. Nikita is a court reporter. A normal person with a responsible, Federal job. But now, she’s Nikita Seis, rock n roll star!
Here is a link to the first live performance of their band GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS performing Looks That Kill. Here is a link to their myspace page. Is that not the coolest freaking thing you’ve ever heard? I am just so inspired by people who decide to do something crazy, and then totally make it happen.
On the left, Vince Niel, Nikki Six, Mick Mars, and Tommy Lee. On the right, Tawny Lee, Nikita Seis, Mistress Mars, and Vixen Neil, the world’s first all-girl Mötley Crüe tribute band. I LOVE IT.
____________
Thing the second:
Have you been reading Jesus Christ’s Blog? You should be. It’s HI-larious. From his description:
“A daily memoir of sorts, in which I capture the mundanity of everyday life and breathe art into the words! And I write about my lamb, Karen, too! She really does the funniest, cutest things.”
Everyone is playing along in the comments. It rules!
____________
Check this out:

Doesn’t this look like a project left behind in 7th grade ceramics? Like some 12 year old got carried away with his pale pink Mother’s day vase design, and never came back for it?
It is in fact part of the Art Collection at Workplace. Believe me, Workplace can afford decent art. This particular display is a mystery.
____________
Okay… here I go…. gonna talk about LOST… look away if you wanna…
SB and I watched the finale last night and all we can say is HUH? Did you guys see that coming? We totally didn’t realize that was a flash forward until the end. (BTW, whoa Kate! All smoothed hair and covered freckles, I hardly recognized her.)
So, are they going to be off the island next season? That would be SO weird. It would just be like a soap opera then. And who was in the coffin? Locke? Ben?
I wonder where they’ll pick it up. Will they go to the beach and collect the other guys? What about Desmond? Are these boat people really the bad guys? Was Naomi (and her bad wig) lying about the bodies that were recovered, and everyone thinking they’re dead? How the heck, if she was not from Penny’s boat, did she have a picture of Desmond?
And WHY did Charlie tell them all about their plan? They never explained that. And jeez! Bernard! WTF?!?
And now we have to wait for MONTHS AND MONTHS for any of the answers. Wait, what am I talking about? This is LOST. There will certainly only be more questions.
Jenny,
I think you’re missing the most likely choice for the coffin-denizen: Sawyer.
I actually did think it was a flash-forward. I’m not sure why, I just intuitively knew it – despite the fact that he referred to his father, which I just chalked up to his drug-addled brain (pun intended). Who’s in the coffin? Ben, probably – but why would Jack be so broken up about it? Maybe Juliette? Someone Jack cared about, but Kate wouldn’t (dude, you’re so right about her future look – so hot! I think she looks pretty damn good grungy, too, though). Maybe Michael, or Walt? Some people were saying the coffin looked small (I didn’t notice).
I loved the finale – except they didn’t really seem to answer any questions, nor pose new ones, which LOST is usually certain to do. I howled when Locke was shown, as I was certain they’d leave him until next season. Walt’s voice was all weird, though, I wish they had done a better job of that.
I HOPE they won’t all be off the island next season. I don’t think all of them will be anyway – maybe just Jack and Kate and whoever was in the coffin. Also, someone was speculating that it was Claire whom Jack saved on the bridge, and it was Aaron who waved at him in the hospital.
I don’t wanna wait 8 months for LOST to come back.
Off to read JC’s blog. Kisses!
I guessed it was a flash-forward, then changed my mind when he talked about his dad, then changed my mind again later on. My theory is that they are going to get off the island very early in the next season and then go back, because Jack was telling Kate that they shouldn’t have left. Although I don’t really understand how Kate could be off the island and not in jail… I think it is probably Ben that dies, but it might also have been Sawyer, because Kate got so defensive when Jack said he thought she might be there.
I think Walt’s voice was weird because the poor kid hit puberty during the last year. LOL
addled: I thought it must be Ben or Locke in the coffin. It has to be someone Jack would be sad about because he wants back on the island so bad, but someone Kate would get all huffy about.
Why would it have been Claire and Aaron in the hospital? Is that someone trying to over LOST-ify, or dd I miss something?
JayAre: Yeah, why WAS Jack’s Dad alive? Why wasn’t Kate in jail? GAH! So long to wait!
I think you’re right – someone getting over LOST-ific, if you will. But it seems like the type of thing they would do, and the timing theoretically fits.
JayAre is totally right, too – why the heck wasn’t Kate in jail? There must be something to that.
I hadn’t thought about the reason why Jack would be upset about whoever was dead, and you hit it right on the head; whomever would have given Jack the best shot at getting back on the island, which would point directly to Ben – but I don’t think Locke, but that is just my opinion. And I still think Juliet is a viable option, but I s’pose we have some time to mull it over…
Erik: Sorry! You were the first commenter apparently, but I just saw it there in my moderation queue. Anyway! Why is Sawyer the most likely? Why would Jack be so sad about Sawyer and Kate be so huffy?
Addled: Yes, much time to mull it over. I still think that it’s Locke or Ben, though. It would have to be someone with no family or friends. ALthough, Erik seems to be sure it’s Sawyer, so I’m hoping he comes back with his evidence!
So Erik and I spent 1080 minutes this weekend watching LOST season 3 from start to finish. We got a babysitter and everything. Our buddy let us borrow his TiVO. I swear it is the only way to watch it. The flash forward I totally got. I think that they are going to be moving from just past and present to past present and future. I think we will continue to be on and off the island. Just like old times, only sometimes we’ll flash forward and sometimes back. The one thing that threw me off was the Dad comment. Anyway totally hooked. How are we going to surive these lame half seasons for the next 3 years!
My first instinct was that it was Locke in the coffin. But Ben is probably the better bet.
For the record I think Kate is way hotter on the island.
