I aim to please.

Addled* has requested a report on the Jonah show last week. Here you go, my dear.

It was SO cool. First of all, we got to hang out and have dinner with them before the show. When we go to see them in Portland, there’s always a million people around who want their attention. Friday night they were ALL OURS. It was de-licious.

There was much hugging and loving and catching up. Also, newly observed phenomenon: Everyone whipped out their cell phones to show pictures of their babies. There was much awww-ing and squinting at tiny screens. It’s cool that everyone has pictures on them all the time now, what with the technology.

The show was GREAT. The Sunset is a much smaller, lower-ceilnged venue than I’ve seen them play in years. It was totally nostalgic. Like driving 6 hours to see them play some dive in Eugene in 1997. It was loud and close and I could feel the music in my chest. I got a little verklempt.

They’re just so goooooooood**. I’m gushing. I’ll stop. They played a great set, all from the new album, except for one oldie that I was excited to hear at the time, but I can’t remember it now. (Sorry, Addled.)

I didn’t take any pictures of them during the show. I feel like they’re real Rock Stars, not kids performing at the talent show, and taking pictures seems Gramma-y. Is that weird? I guess that tells you how small it was. It was too close for pictures.

Ooh! But look! Here is a picture my friend Shannon took of them when they performed in Ashland last month. It was much like this:

Mattie said they plan to try to play in Seattle every couple of months at least, so if you missed them this time, you’ll have another chance. And if you live in Portland, you lucky duck, you can see them anytime. Go!

Thanks so much! Every time I hear about them playing, and I can’t be there, I feel a little sad, and wistful and stuff. So nice to see M & J too! They are looking well.

Are you teasing me about my desire for anonymity? I do believe you are. Well, I’m paranoid about getting a big job in a big firm and then getting fired cause I called some professor a douchebag. Sue me. No, wait, I’ll sue YOU! Muahahahahahaha!!!!

Was it not great to see little ole’ preggo me Addled? I am super hurt!

Jenny, Once again, thank you for documenting this incredible evening for all of our memory books. At least you are in one of the pics! I love you…

  3. Jenny says:

Addled: Dude! I wasn’t teasing you! I just didn’t want any of our mutual friends to click over to your blog an be all, Fred! I didn’t know you had a blog! (I mean if your name was Fred)

And yes! Shame on you for not commenting on Heather’s beauty.

Heather: Yes, I am the historian. I wanted to take a hundred pictures out on that deck. I kept thinking everyone looked so beautiful. I decided to keep my crazy camera lady-ness in check, though.

  4. Addled says:

Well, don’t I feel like an asshole!

Heather, your beauty and motherly glow enraptures the very essence of my soul. I am nearly speechless with awe at the sight of you, and those were pictures! I imagine if ever I were to see you in person, I would likely faint at the shock of your awesomeness!

    :P

  5. Heather says:

Oh Addled, my self esteem has been fully restored. Thank you for humoring an eight month preggo woman. You know how I like to be the center of attention.

Much loves, and I DO hope to see you in person sometime soon, although I take no responsibility for your reaction to sight of me.

    …hliv

p.s. jenny thanks for letting us abuse your blog for this conversation
