We got up bright and early Saturday morning, stopped for some beautiful coffee, and got our parade on.

The Daffodil Parade is a sentimental occasion for me. I loved it as a kid, standing for hours, mesmermized by the beauty of the princesses and the the crisp movements of the cheerleaders. I got to be in it in highschool, so there are those sparkly memories as well. So, weeeeeeeee! Everyone loves a parade!
Below, the highlights. Please assume the presence of cheesy floats, ROTC kids marching in lockstep, and other parade-like things.

On the left, parade cohorts, and on the right, the Princesses. (Okay. I’ll admit it. I SO wanted to be a Daffodil Princess. I’m not kidding.)

The Seafair Pirates with the ol’ alma matter in the back ground, and on the right, a good truck for fighting zombies. (SB has been reading The Walking Dead comics, and has been doing a lot of thinking about preparing for zombie attack.)

This is my friend, who is a real live cheerleading advisor, though she is quick to tell you she never was one. But look how excited she is! (And ooh! Guess what?! She’s going to let me be one of the judges at her cheer tryouts next month! I’d do it just for the blog fodder, but I suppose it’s good to put all that useless knowledge to use somehow. Also? YAY!)
On the right, a clown driving a hearse. HAVE YOU EVER SEEN ANYTHING MORE TERRIFYING?

On the left, a strangely frightening anamatronic bomb guy with frauleins, and on the right, tiny boyscouts playing in a bucket band.

On the left, some kids who are going to be TIRED if they keep that up all day, through Puyallup, Sumner, and Orting, too. Also, tiny blue person with the Link.
A good time was had by all! I hope no one is scared away by all the declarations of extreme dorkiness in this post. You knew I wasn’t cool, right?
That looks like a fun parade! Except for the clown part. I may be scarred for life.
ah, tacoma! funny, in the five years i lived in good old t-town i never attended the lovely daffodil parade..loved the narrative of the photos..i can almost smell the puget sound. aah.
miss it.
Does your DH have this book http://www.amazon.com/Zombie-Survival-Guide-Max-Brooks/dp/071563318X/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/104-5939409-6455920?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1177532413&sr=1-1?
It is a must have for those of us who take zombie attacks seriously!
cute parade BTW!
V.
In the one Daffodil Parade that I attended, I saw some of the scariest clowns ever. Face paint + Facial hair = Freaky! I totally get the princess envy–we didn’t even have princesses for any local parade where I grew up, but I was never princess material anyway. Oh well.
Jayare: I know! Not a good combo!
Dahli: That’s a damn shame. You seriously missed out.
V: No! He doesn’t it! I’m totally buying that for him.
beth c: I guess I wasn’t princess material, either. They took all of the girls with a high enough GPA, then had the faculty nominate from that list. I was not nominated. Hrmph.
lol…one year I decided to give Steve all his christmas gifts with the theme “the undead”. I am such a nerd.
Not a big fan of the scary clown either. Here’s a couple frightening/depressing I snapped from the same parade:
